Sparklebrum (trading name) is the data controller responsible for your personal data within the meaning of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

When you request a free quote through the contact form, we collect:

• Your name
• Your phone number
• Your area or postcode
• Your address (optional, for an accurate quote)
• Your message about the job

Lawful basis: we process this data under our legitimate interests to respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote. If you go on to book a clean, we also process your data under the contract we have with you to provide the service.

When you apply to join the team at /cleaner-apply, we collect:

• Your full name, email and phone number
• Your address
• Your date of birth
• Your sex (you may prefer not to say)
• Your CV / résumé
• Your DBS certificate (optional at the application stage)

Lawful basis: we process this data under our legitimate interests to assess your suitability for work. Your date of birth and sex are used for identity verification and equality monitoring under legitimate interests. DBS certificate data is processed under our legal obligation to carry out background checks for roles that require them. If you are engaged as a cleaner, we also process your data under the contract we have with you.

• To respond to quote requests and prepare fixed-price quotes
• To book, schedule and carry out cleaning jobs
• To assess cleaner applications and carry out DBS checks
• To communicate with you about your booking or application
• To keep tax, accounting and employment records as required by law

We do not sell your data. We only share it with the cleaners assigned to your job, our service providers (such as the platform that hosts this site and our email provider), and authorities where the law requires it.

This website uses analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. The analytics are provided by the platform that hosts this site and collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited. You can accept or reject analytics cookies using the cookie notice shown on your first visit.

• Quote enquiries that do not lead to a booking: deleted after 12 months
• Client records where a booking is made: kept for the duration of the service, plus 6 years for tax and contract records
• Unsuccessful cleaner applications: deleted after 12 months
• Cleaner records where you are engaged: kept for the duration of your engagement, plus 6 years for tax and employment records
• DBS certificate data: retained for 6 months after a recruitment decision, in line with the DBS Code of Practice, unless the DBS Update Service is used

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy of it in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, or to request deletion of your data, email info@sparklebrum.com with your request. We will respond within 30 days. We will delete your data unless we have a legal reason to keep it, for example tax records that the law requires us to retain.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
